In his commentary on the Bhagavad Gita, Madhusudan Sarasvati sets forth a philosophy of life which also recognized other ways of spiritual development - such as Yoga, devotion to God, and the analytical penetration of Samkhya. Here Madhusudan gave the highest place to the cultivation of devotion. According to him, devotion is the most effective means of God - realization and Sri Krishna is the highest manifestation of the Divine.
